personally, i am not a huge fan of it whatsoever. although i’d like know where all that money comes from and why it isn’t allocated to hospitals, schools etc? yes people will argue that doing the lottery is a personal choice. just like it is a personal choice as to whether we chose to smoke, eat unhealthy food and all that. but as it is mainly public money the government is frittering away with, is it then a choice to see money going into the pockets of people just by picking a random set of numbers? and why has so little money gone to charitable causes and more of it to things such as the royal opera house, the london olympics, and dare i say it the now- defunct millenium dome? i like to know what your views are on this. how should the lottery be run? should the jackpot prize be limited and if so how much ? are there too many games, what with scratch cards to name but a couple? where should most of the money go? are you satisfied with labour’s role in the running of lottery?
Personally its one big scam for the fat cats.and yes were dose all the money go.and no i am not satisfied with labour’s roll running the lottery.their should be more money given to hospital’s. schools. children’s homes. old peoples homes not send it to other country’s
I asked this question before: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ah1CqAxT6dx5YIDDsnE_Zdzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070826120054AAQJIcR
and did some research. And Its seems that the government will "legalize" anything they can make money from. For example: Isn’t the lottery a numbers racket, which is a federal offense? and a form of gambling, also illegal? and is Pornography just videographed prostitution, which is illegal?
This question isn’t a statement of opinion. I really want to understand how these types of laws work.
Federal law governs things that affect more than one state. For example, prostitution is legal in Nevada, but transporting women over state lines for the purpose of promoting prostitution is a violation of the federal Mann act.
Same with the lottery. Gambling is legal within some states, but promotion of a multi-state, private lottery will violate federal law. Federal law does not regulate the super lottos run by several states together, because the states themselves are sovereign and the federal government has no jurisdiction to stop this state-sanctioned activity.

I was just looking around the environment one day and i was thinking. I’m not rich, but I’m trying to get my hustle on. Some people want more money but they’re not willing to put the effort to do so. That’s why foreigners come in the U.S.A. hungry and ready to make money. Americans just think about paying bills and never try to outpay the bills rather than just pay their bills. They don’t realize I guess they have to outhustle the hustle in order to see some money in life. The hustle against you is the bills. The companies are making money by giving you you’re monthly bills. I was just wondering if people just gave up or they think it’s just going to come to them. Nothing’s going to just come to anybody. I see people always playing the lottery. With all that time and effort you could be trying to open a business and see actual money. Rich people or people really trying to become rich let me know something. Money before the women too…for you guys out there! The women will always live
Becoming wealthy means that you are striving for a different socio-economical status. When in Rome do as the Romans. You have to let go of those that are around you because they do not want the same thing you do. If you are fortunate to be around other like minded hustlers, fly solo. Meet each other at the top, but very rarely to relationships grow together in financial prosperity, unless your married. Change your habits and behaviors. A lot of wealthy people I know look like bums. Not because they are careless but because they have sacrificed so much for so long that, that is all they know. That is one approach, that you do not have to choose. The other is be aware of your surroundings, have the ability to lead, and organize. Last, no your self and your own limitations. At the end of the day you only have to answer to you and God.

I worked out the odds for this Payday lottery in Canada. With PayDay you win $1000/week for the rest of your life. I wondered how long you would have to live after winning to make it worth playing. When I calculated it said only 37.96 years.
These are my odds (more precise than the website), and yes I factored in the fact that only one prize can be claimed per ticket.
Prize, odds (1/X)value/play
$50000, 676638.25, $0.07389
$20000, 338319.88, $0.05912
$1000, 169160.69, $0.00591
$25, 309.43, $0.08079
$2, 6.22, $0.32143
Total statistical ‘value’ of small prizes: $54.114
Ticket is $2, so ‘net cost’ of a shot at the grand prize = $1.45886
Odds of winning the grand prize = 1/1,353,275
Playing the lottery the estimated number of times would cost: 1,353,275 * $1.45886 = $1,974,239
$1,974,239 /$52,000/year = 37.96 years
Lottos MAKE money or they aren’t run. Therefore I must have made a mistake. Anyone see it? I can’t.
1. I’m not talking about buying all the numbers. I’m just debating the statistical worth of buying 1-3 tickets per week. I buy usually 2 per week, and wouldn’t change that above $10/week.
2. ‘Net cost’ is less than $2 because there is a certain chance I’ll get my money back. That is why I went to all the effort of figuring out the exact odds of winning the small prizes. If you get your money back 1/4 of the time, the cost of tickets over an extended length of time average out to $1.50, see?
3. Taxes in Canada are nowhere near 50%. The highest tax bracket is around 35%, and that bracket doesn’t kick in until well over $100k/year. Taxes on a $52k/year lottery wouldn’t be as bad as the one-time payout because they would be spread out over a number of years, no?
4. I don’t HAVE piles of money. With who I am, if I had even $20k I would be investing all my energy in multiplying the money. IMO, interest is for suckers, sloths, or emergency funds.
I wouldn’t go out buying $2,000,000 in lottery tickets just yet.
Don’t forget to factor in taxes. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t income tax in Canada almost 50%? That takes you up to 75 years before you break even right there.
You also assumed if you did not play the lottery, your $1.9 million would be collecting no interest. You must compare the future value of the $1.9 million if it sat in the bank with a given interest rate to the future value of the $52,000 a year if it collected the same interest over the course of 38 years. This also presumes you never touch any of the money, regardless of which option you choose.
Don’t forget to read the small print too. Sometimes those "cash for life" prizes have a cutoff in like 30 years.
the week before last week I had $200.00 and I spent half of that on lottery scratch off tickets and I won $30.00 and I played it back and I lost, my mom was telling me not to go up to the store and buy all them lottery tickets becuase I won’t win everytime, I didn’t listen, I admit I have havd like a magnet pulling me up to the store so I can buy more tickets, I hate that I only have $10.00 left and I had to tape that back together because it got stuck in my electronic toy back and I had no choice but to pull it out and guess what it got torn, today I was at the store and they wouldn’t take the 10 dollar bill becuase of that, I got a little upset, I was planning to buy 5 bonus 7 11 21, with the money, have you ever had this problem, oh I wanna say yesterday I had $66.00 left and I bought a new DVD player for $25.00 dollars, a new CD player for $10.00, some noodles that were 5 for $1.00, I just might make $300.00 dollars becuase I found a website where you can make free money
what do you think of that, I will have money to buy that Oprah winfrey 20th anniversary 6 golden disc box set, I will also have enough to buy me more new clothes and music cds.
Lol completely agree with the two above me. YOU ARE ADDICTED!

The best way to deal with those is to cut out the middle man and just give me your bank details.
Having been through the therapies in the past, I am aware there is no guarantee and that therapies cannot solve your problem. I am not saying it’s useless, and it does have some values to some extent that is relatively speaking. It’s expensive even if you have insurance, and coverage is ever shrinking and it keeps becoming more expensive.
I’m half jokingly thinking maybe with the money I would be giving to the therapist maybe I’ll play lottery and try my luck. I know they say money is not gonna make you happy and it will merely give you more choices in life, but whether you go to a therapist or play lottery, you are taking chances with no guarantee. Has anyone given this kind of thought?
I know some of those proud therapists will think my question is stupid, but I would be curious to get other peoples’ thought on this.
However, I don’t think it’s likely I’ll ever spend from $80 to $150 per drawing of lottery which is the range of fee for a session of talking to a therapist. If you add medicine, it can be a lot more expensive…..
If I had enough money I would go for therapy and spend a very small amount on the lottery. Best Wishes to you.
